about

'Too Sad to Fall Asleep' was born out of a lot of confusion and pain. I spent the summer allowing myself to sit with my thoughts and my feelings completely unmedicated for the first time in ten years.

These songs are my attempt to make sense of who I am, what I want, and the things that are happening to me and around me. They are about heartbreak, identity, depression, anxiety, loneliness, and the coping mechanisms I turned to when all of these things became too much.

I've been writing songs since I was 9, but I wrote all of the songs on this EP over the summer. I feel like they best describe the artist and person I am at this moment.

They were recorded live in one night in my friends', Holley and Charlie's, apartment. There are no cuts. Guitar and vocals were recorded simultaneously. My voice cracks. My guitar playing isn't perfect. And that is exactly how I want it.

I wanted my first release to feel completely honest, and to me, this does.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to little pieces of my heart.

Track Name: Brooklyn (Acoustic)
He said
"That's nice
I hope you had a good time
In this city of mine
That's sweet
That you fell for me
But you're out of mind
Well out of sight at least
Hope you come back to Brooklyn soon
Or maybe not

That's really nice
That you told me how you felt last night
But I don't know what to do
All my friends
Can't wait to see you again
I'm confused
I don't know what you want
Or how it'll go
Now you've gone home

That's nice
I'm glad you had a good time
In this city of mine
That's sweet
That you fell for me
But I am fine
On my own tonight"

That's nice
I really had a good time
In that city of yours
And your friends
Seem to like me more
Than you ever did
So I left without a kiss
And I'll come back
To Brooklyn someday
And if you see me
I hope you wave
And ask how I am
And say "that's nice"
When I say
"I am fine"
Track Name: Transgressions (Acoustic)
I don't wanna be called beautiful anymore
At least not the way you say it as you're walking out my door
I don't wanna hear you say my name
Cause when you say it
It sounds like you're
Saying it in vain
Saying it in vain

Little bruises as reminders of my transgressions
I get lonely when the sun goes down
I will call whoever will come
I will be forever young
At heart
I am sure
I'm a little immature
You are old
But not wise
Truth be told

I don't wanna be called beautiful anymore
At least not the way you say it as you're walking out my door
I don't wanna hear you say my name
Cause when you say it
It sounds like you're
Saying it in vain
Saying it in vain
Track Name: Coffee Stains (Acoustic)
I can feel on my lips
I can taste you on my tongue
Oh but I haven't kissed
You in so long
I can see you in my dreams
And hear you in those songs
You're in all the books I read
Even after you're long gone

It's not as simple as forgetting
It's not as easy as moving on
You left an imprint
On me
And it won't come off

You like to take me dancing
You like to get me drunk
While you do lines in the bathroom
And call your girlfriend once she's mad enough
Now you're rolling through a Sunday
Going dark before the moon
Even has a chance to greet us
Flying higher than I've ever seen you

It's not as simple as forgetting
It's not as easy as moving on
You left an imprint
On me
And it won't come off

I'll drive you home in the morning
When everyone else is in bed
And you'll tell me that you're sorry
For the way you treated me back then
I'll live within mixed signals
You're lips against my head
As I fall back into taking care of you again

It's not as simple as forgetting
It's not as easy as moving on
You left an imprint
On me
And I don't think I'll ever get it off
Track Name: Rusting (Acoustic)
I met you at the start of Spring
I wanted to keep you more than anything
You left me with a broken heart
But that's not even the worst part
You don't know I still dream of you
That everything I said that night well it wasn't true
I'm scared of commitment but I'd change for you
If you wanted but you don't so I'll leave

Everyone wants to have their wishes granted
Everyone wants to follow their dreams
Everyone wants to be wanted
It's not just me
It's not just me

Oooo
Oooo
Oooo
Oooo

The oxidization of my lonely soul
Is making me wish I could become whole
Stitch up the gashes that you left in me
And stop all my gears from rusting
Saltwater loves to corrode
Reading all the letters I never sent but I wrote
That lady with the torch
Is keeping you close
But oh so far from me
You're oh so far from me

Everyone wants to have their wishes granted
Everyone wants to follow their dreams
Everyone wants to be wanted
It's not just me
It's not just me

Oooo
Oooo
Oooo
Oooo
Track Name: Little Drummer Boy (Acoustic)
Touch myself and think of you
I don't remember how you felt
The whiskey clouded all of me
Now I'm too sad to fall asleep

We both aren't good at sharing beds
Or waking up with pounding heads
You steal the pillows
Steal the sheets
Now you won't even call me

Ahh ooooo
Ahh ooooo
Ahh ooooo

You think love's a waste of time
So I won't give you none of mine
I'll keep my lovin' to myself
And all your books on my top shelf

Ahh ooooo
Ahh ooooo
Ahh ooooo
